REACH is a European law (EC 1907/2006) that entered into force in June 2007 and covers the registration, evaluation, approval and banning of chemicals. The name REACH is an abbreviation composed of the initial letters of the English words Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Chemicals.
The main goal of the REACH regulation is the protection of human health and the protection of the environment from the risks that may arise from the use of chemical products. This regulation replaced numerous ordinances that related to existing substances, determined the way to register new substances and provided for the restriction of substances that are risky or very risky for people, the living world and/or the environment. All substances that are produced or imported into the European Union in an amount greater than one ton per year must be registered with the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) by a certain deadline, which depends on the amount of chemicals.
This obligation does not formally apply to manufacturers/exporters outside the European Union, but it does apply to their European customers who would have to register individually. In order to avoid this, the legal form of the Only Representative was established, which represents the manufacturer outside the European Union before the European Chemicals Agency.
REACHLaw Ltd, Helsinki, Finland, has been designated as the Only Representative for HIP-Petrohemija in the European Union, in accordance with Article 8 of the REACH Regulation.
Since a very significant part of its products is exported to the EU market, HIP-Petrohemija has carried out extensive required tests with the desire to fulfill all REACH obligations on time. The requested data were collected and systematized both on substances and their use, as well as on customers and suppliers, which enabled HIP-Petrohemija to participate in the exchange of information along the entire European chain of producers and users of chemical products.
HIP-Petrohemija is pleased to inform its customers and suppliers that all REACH obligations have been fulfilled in accordance with the set deadlines and that a positive decision has been received from the European Chemicals Agency on the registration of substances produced by HIP-Petrohemija.
In this way, further smooth placement and sale of HIP-Petrohemija’s products on the European Union market is possible.
Polymers (PENG-HIPTEN®, PEVG-HIPLEX® and SBR-HIPREN®) are exempt from registration, but there is an obligation to register monomers and other substances that enter into the composition of polymers.
HIP-Petrohemija hereby confirms that all products it delivers to its customers contain substances that are either exempt from REACH registration or are registered, where there are declarations of registration from the suppliers.
