1,3-Butadiene

1,3-butadiene ( CH2 = CH - CH = CH2 ) is an unsaturated hydrocarbon with two double bonds (diene). At room temperature, it is a colorless gas with a slightly aromatic odor, non-corrosive, but highly reactive and flammable.

USE

1,3-Butadiene is used as a raw material in the production of synthetic rubber (styrene-butadiene,
nitrile-butadiene, cis-polybutadiene rubber). It is also used in the production of plastics
materials, colors and synthetic resins.
